Freshmen Representative
Position Assessment: From Pow Wow to Club Rush I feel the Freshmen Leadership class has been doing outstanding. Starting with Pow Wow, the Freshmen took this event head on and with a can-do attitude. We worked together and were successful in selling about $400 worth of t-shirts. The next event was Club Rush and the school wide BBQ. We served food all throughout lunch down to the very last person and ran into no major problems along the way. After serving food we headed over to the cafeteria and worked as a team to cleanup and wash dishes.
Standing Committee:
I have not participated in any standing committees so far, but I am looking forward to helping out as much as possible in the future.
Special Committee:
The two special committees I’ve participated in have ran very smoothly. First was the school wide BBQ. Overall, this event was well organized and planned. We ran out of a few items but otherwise had plenty of food. The lines moved quickly and we were able to feed everyone who wanted lunch. After the BBQ, we cleaned, washed dishes, and helped take down and put away food. The second event was the Black Light Rally. This rally was amazing and was very well organized. Everyone knew exactly what had to be done and by what time it needed to be accomplished. Everyone loved the rally and there were very few, if any, negative comments. This is all thanks to Natalie Betoshana.
Concern:
Many teachers seemed to be confused when students are leaving their classroom for Leadership activities. They have made it very clear that it inconveniences them to have the students make up work and miss class.I’m not sure how to approach this situation due to Morty already sending out lists and emails to the teachers whose students will be leaving.
Positive:
Most, if not all, of the events we’ve planned so far have ran very smoothly, due to our well organized leaders and the help of Morty. We have ran into very few problems and have had no conflicts within the teams.
Change:
I would love to be able to connect more with the upperclassmen in the Leadership program. I feel as if they underclassmen know each other well, but are disconnected from the upperclassmen. Hopefully, this will change as the year progresses and we spend more time together as a class.
Impact:
I have recently left an impact on my peers in the leadership program due to my participation in the Black Light Rally and the school BBQ. Not only did I help as much as I possibly can during the rally to ensure Natalie’s plan was successful, but I also kept a positive mindset during the BBQ and made sure everyone was served and all the dishes were cleaned and put away.
