August 2021 ASB Formal Report
Name: Makenzie Loechler
Position: Junior Class President
Date: 1 September 2021
Position Assessment:
Up to this point, as Juniors, our class has gone through Core Camp, Pow Wow, Class T-shirt Sales, Club Rush, and the creation of the BTSD. During Core Camp I led the discussion in our Homecoming themes conversation in which we came to the conclusion of two ideas for two different themes. We also used bonding games in order to bring our class closer along with me giving a speech to specifically the Juniors, getting them ready for this next year. During Pow Wow I organized and delegated tasks out to each of the officers in order to sell Class T-shirts, it was a pretty successful event as we got asked many questions about the shirts and made quite a few sales. During Club Rush we sold Class T-shirts once again selling a total of 93 shirts including those sold at Pow Wow, once again a successful event. As for the BTSD, I contributed by helping create posters, volunteering to bring water, and helping watch the DJ setup while the rest of the Junior class also got involved in various ways. The Junior class has a lot planned for the future including working on Homecoming and Winterfest, and starting to plan Prom. Two very big events that I’m sure the Juniors are very excited to work on with the help of Morty and the rest of the leadership class. I’m very excited to see what we can do with these three events and for the Junior class in these following months.
Standing Committee:
I am a part of the balloon arch standing committee which builds balloon arches for events whenever they're needed. We were planning on creating a balloon arch for the BTSD but due to its cancellation we were unable to create it. As for plans for the future, I hope to feel more comfortable building a balloon arch by myself along with teaching the underclassman exactly how to construct said balloon arch. Aside from that, we need to get a new helium tank so we can stay prepared in the event of needing a balloon arch.
Special Committee:
Special Committees for me include the Class T-shirt decorations and the BTSD names, both of which I delegated tasks out to each of the members of the Junior class. The Class T-shirt decorations were supported by the Junior Class Officers, specifically April Yan and Gracie Winchell. The BTSD name was supported by each Junior class member in leadership. Each was given 20-25 names and expected to write the names in a neat way in Sharpie. From there a few members were elected to tape the names to the window of the student store. I plan on creating more special committees as events progress just to make sure everything stays organized and put together.
Mentorship Evaluation:
Working with Claire the past couple of weeks has been an amazing experience. She is such a sweet girl and is not afraid to ask questions and take initiative. She has had a few questions about paperwork and ordering class t-shirts that I was more than happy to answer. We are planning a lunch to go over any questions she has or anything she needs help with anything either in leadership or personally. I think this program is a great idea and wish it was in place when I was a Freshman.
Concerns:
My concern for this month is the class not being able to bond with each other. As of right now I have only been able to really meet with my mentorship buddy and my class officers. I wish I had more opportunities to bond with the Freshman or other members of the class. My solution for this is to move around the seating arrangements and mix things up a bit.
Positive Comment:
One positive aspect in the classroom I’ve seen is the adaptability and flexibility in events this year. Specifically the BTSD, with so many changes, setbacks, and disappointments I feel the class has responded well in finding alternate solutions and options when one option gets shot down. I hope we’re able to maintain this adaptability throughout the year as more events are put on. Obstacles are never expected and remembering flexibility is a key aspect in putting on events for the student body.
One Change:
One change I would like to see is a shift in the attitude of the class. Many members seem careless or lazy when it comes to helping with events. A few individuals are taking on the brunt of the work due to others not wanting to help or not taking the initiative to ask if they could help. There are a few members who go out of their way to ask what needs to be done or where they can help but there are more who would rather sit down and hide away from responsibilities. This class ran off of supporting and helping each other and I’m sad to not see this happening in class. I hope as the year continues everyone in leadership will take the initiative to help those taking the brunt of the work.
My Impact:
My goal for this month was to help anyone who needed advice. Underclassmen, upperclassmen, teammates, and peers I have all been able to help and give guidance to. With the new school year there’s many Freshmen who are lost or just need a little help and I love helping out whenever I get the chance and whenever they ask. To me, helping those in need is one of the biggest impacts you could create on campus. I feel I have done a great job of this not only in the leadership classroom but also on campus and on the court.

September - October 2021 ASB Formal Report
Name: Makenzie Loechler
Position: Junior Class President
Date: 14 October 2021
Position Assessment:
Continuing from the Back To School Dance, the Junior class has mainly focused on Homecoming along with planning for Dude Be Nice, passing out class T-shirts, Winterfest, and Prom. We kicked off Homecoming with the Lip Sync dance battle in which we had several Juniors outside of leadership participate in the dance. The music and choreography was well planned, the props brought our dance to a whole new level, and the energy was amazing. I genuinely believe it was one of the best lip syncs out there and by far the best we’ve done yet. The following week we created the giant poster for the front of the school. Although it was not as successful, it was fun to make and I can look back and laugh at it now. I did enjoy how we were still able to incorporate our class into the poster. The next competition was the window decorations. We had alright execution but other factors really pushed our window to the next level. I believe it was the best dressed window out there. We had included a hanging Up house, a spinning mickey ferris wheel, and giant block letters surrounding the window. The hard work and effort put into the window was amazing. The final competition was the float decorations where we really pulled out all the stops and took first in this competition. We handmade everything and put in so many hours to make the float come alive. Personally, as Junior Class President, I feel I did a good job delegating tasks although I know there is always room for improvement. I ended up taking over a few tasks that I should’ve delegated out and I realize I should have asked for help. Next time I will take the extra steps and time to really set my class up for success. My purpose is now to support and hold together my class when things get difficult, to be the calm within the storm. I will keep this mindset as we prepare for Dude Be Nice, Winterfest and Prom. The Junior class will be heading the event, supporting all the clubs participating in this special event to encourage random acts of kindness. Afterwards we will get an early start on Winterfest to make sure no one stresses about the competition, making the event more carefree and fun for everyone. We’ve already begun planning prom, starting with having a meeting with Mayfield on October 11, 2021 to discuss certain aspects that the officers can begin working on in preparation for Prom. I’m excited to see how this class continues to grow and get better with each event we plan. I’m also excited to see how I can develop and grow as a leader and President to become the best version of myself possible.
Standing Committee:
The balloon arch, my favorite standing committee. I’ve been quite busy trying to balance my life and responsibilities causing me to be unable to assist very much in this committee but I’ve been helping where I can. We haven’t made any balloon arches since the BTSD but I did make a few balloon bouquets for Coronation. This committee has helped me in ways I didn’t think it could. I’ve been able to help in constructing balloon structures for my class and volleyball team since my experience with building the balloon arches. I can’t wait to be able to help more within this committee and really take a leading role as I learn from Naomi in hopes of filling the spot when she graduates. This is really a great committee with amazing people.
Special Committee:
The most significant special committee I played a part in was the risers for Coronation. Originally, I wasn’t planning on being in this special committee but when help was needed I came as fast as I could. We seemed to be short a few people for the risers due to everyone being extremely busy with Coronation and Powder Puff and I wanted to help support everyone who was working so hard on creating the successful event. It made me happy to be able to provide help to my classmates even if it wasn’t originally planned.
Mentorship Evaluation:
My mentee Clarie! I love Claire and I’m really proud of how far she has come. With every passing event I can see her growing more and more confident in her position and as a leader, I think she would make a great president for her class one day. She works very hard and has the most positive attitude I’ve seen thus far. She’s not afraid to ask for help (something she could mentor me on), organized, very put together and professional. She is a great fit for this program and I hope to see her continue in this path.
Concerns:
My concerns for this report is the stress levels of the students in this class. Everyone seems to be on edge, high emotions, and stressed and it pains me to see this, there is nothing worse than being stressed out and worried. It can cause many problems within the class but more importantly within the self, especially health wise. I think everyone needs to take a minute to meditate and be calm, be in the moment to try and calm their brain. I understand having a busy schedule but you can always make time to just sit and be present, to listen to your body and mind and its needs. We need to take better care of ourselves and our health before the effects of stress are irreversible.
Positive Comment:
I’m genuinely so proud of our class for the amount of praises we created this time. There had to be hundreds of praises in the basket, more than I’ve ever seen in my 3 years in this program. There was a lot of hardwork and effort put into Homecoming this year and I feel as if we really exceed the expectations in congratulating and celebrating each other. There may be stress and tension during Homecoming but the amount of praises show just how much we support and love each other at the end of the day. When the dust settles this class is full of appreciation and kindness for each other and I couldn’t be happier with our class for that.
One Change:
One change I hope to see within the class is people finding comfort in their positions and emotions. Too many people are getting wrapped up in the stress and emotions of this class and by taking a minute to just sit and be still could do so much good for those struggling. Controlling the emotions, the mind, thoughts, and actions, life becomes so much more enjoyable. I would like the class to meditate, pray, color, whatever it takes to relax their nerves and emotions a little more often than they currently are. Not only would it improve our program, it would improve the attitude of the class, and the wellbeing of the individual.
My Impact:
My impact in this report is to remain patient with those who are learning. This class is not easy and by taking the time to sit down and explain certain processes or events I could greatly improve my class and program. Although it is easy to just take over, I want to teach and lead my people to success rather than force the success of others. They can’t learn if they never do. I’m excited to see how this change in my mindset and attitude can affect those around me.

November - December 2021 ASB Formal Report
Name: Makenzie Loechler
Position: Junior Class President
Date: 6 December 2021
Position Assessment:
Picking up from the last report, we have accomplished Dude Be Nice, Blanket Drive, Winter Formal, Door Decorating, and have begun work on Warm and Fuzzy Week, Study Buddy Night, Winterfest and we still have Prom. Lots and lots of work for this report. Beginning with Dude Be Nice, it was an eventful week and I am very happy with how it turned out. Almost all of the days ran amazingly and our Dudette, Sam Green, was ecstatic and surprised to see she won. The only day that went downhill was Tunes Tuesday which was out of our control. We ended Dude Be Nice by thanking all our participants and scoring a perfect score on the procedure form. After Dude Be nice our VPs began work on their community service project entailing a blanket drive to donate to a homeless shelter in Stockton. I was able to assist by counting coins and collecting money at lunch. The event was pretty successful and I plan to help further by donating a blanket for my final. Next was Winter Formal, this was all Sophomores and although I offered help they seemed to have everything figured out and ready to go. Also during this time the Sophomores have been working on Warm and Fuzzy week in which the entire class had to decorate doors and decorate a tree. Supplies have been ordered and a sketch of the plan is ready to go, we also have a tree all figured out. Although I was not able to participate in the door decorating myself, I heard it went fairly well with a few hiccups here and there. Coming up next is Winterfest, a purchase order will be filled out this week as we order supplies to be able to decorate a pillar, poster, shopping cart, and window. We will also have a window by the end of the week. We have sketches already planned out and a Procedure Form will be started this week. We are starting Prom preparations ASAP. Finding a venue, DJ, and decorations will all be started this week as I hope to be prepared and not stress, I will continue preparation over winter break for Prom. The t-shirts are being worked on any chance given and my goal is to have them all out by the end of the week. Aside from events, a reflection of myself in my position is much needed. I feel like I’ve taken a step back since Dude, Be Nice. I’ve been letting my officers figure things out and come to me when they need help. I want my officers to be able to be successful in future roles in Leadership even if I’m not involved. My goal is for less stress and more productivity when it comes to Leadership and big events. I’m excited to see what the end of the year and new year brings as I hope to be more productive and use my time more wisely when I get the chance.
Standing Committee:
The balloon arch committee has not done much as of recently but my goal is to bring more festivities and fun to the events on campus by utilizing this standing committee. We also need to order more helium and better balloons for this committee in order to be prepared. I hope to have a balloon arch for Prom and possibly a few balloon clusters for WinterFest. I feel this would add the little bit of extra fun to the events that we need. I hope to be able to learn more about building said arches from Naomi in these next few months in order to feel more comfortable when I hopefully take over next year.
Special Committee:
There have been a few special committees since the last report due to Dude Be Nice and the VPs blanket drive. Dude Be Nice had many aspects to it including the help from Clubs, the help from admin and our previous Dudes, and the publication of the event. These weren’t particularly set special committees but I saw it as little subsections within the event. Everything with the clubs ran quite smoothly and I’m very impressed by the amount of communication I received from said clubs. Communicating with our admin and previous Dudes in order for the Instagram Live to run smoothly was crucial in the success of the event. Finally, thanks to the help of my publicity officers and the publicity commissioners, the event was well publicized. Besides Dude Be Nice, I worked to help the VPs with counting coins and keep track of their money and also by collecting money at lunch. I hope this helped to relieve some stress from my peers and support them in their event.
Mentorship Evaluation:
I feel as if Claire has really grown into a great leader over these past couple months. I love seeing glimpses of her leading her class or delegating tasks and I feel like a proud mother. I wish I had more opportunities to talk with her during leadership and really teach her some things about the class. I’m planning on taking her out to lunch this week so I can sit down with her and we can discuss WinterFest where I hope to give her some advice and answer any questions she might have. I also want to get the opportunity to encourage her to stick with leadership and apply for the program again next year. I feel like she could really make a positive change in this class and school once she gets out of her shell.
Concerns:
I think my biggest concern at this time is a lack of motivation, we’ve been at this for almost half a school year and it doesn’t get any easier. I’ve noticed this trend over the past couple years, everyone loses motivation and focus during this time, then once the break is over everyone is energized and ready to work. I realize this is probably outside of our control and finals definitely contribute to this yet I feel there is always something we can do. Maybe individually we need to take more time to reset ourselves, sleep right, eat right, and fuel our bodies correctly. A positive mindset and patience is also much needed in order to continue working hard during this time. My goal is to stay positive no matter the circumstances and maybe just maybe that positivity will spread. If it doesn’t work then I hope after the break, going into WinterFest, everyone gains their motivation and drive back. Also less procrastination is needed!!! Starting an assignment as soon as it's assigned and really working hard helps tremendously when it comes to stress, attitude, and procrastination.
Positive Comment:
I’m really impressed with how this class deals with adversity and problems. In the age of Covid the class was forced to adapt and change and it has really done this class well. We adapt and change as things get thrown our way. We threw a Winter Formal on the tennis courts, a BTSD over by the football field, we had heaters and gates, we adapted WinterFest and Homecoming. This is the most flexible and indestructible Leadership class I’ve seen thus far. I am really proud of all the hard work we have put into this class as a whole and I feel like typically everything gets done pretty ahead of time. There's considerably less stress than previous years and I can’t help but give credit to the atmosphere in the class.
One Change:
POSITIVITY!!! This is one thing I really want to be a priority in this class. There is so much negativity and hatred towards other people not only in this class but in this school and sometimes it even brings me down. Negativity does nothing good in this world and although it will always be persistent we can limit its use and effect on our lives. I will start this by bringing more positivity and patience into my life. The only thing I can control is how I act, feel, and react. Therefore the best way for me to start this is by changing how I view the world and how I react to situations thrown at me.
My Impact:
Throughout this time my family has been going through a rough time. In this time I’ve realized that by helping people even when they think they don’t ask for it can create a huge impact on those around me and the lives of my loved ones. So my focus is on helping with as many little things as possible to ease stress. Whether it's at home, school, or work, if I can help someone in even the smallest way I will be happy. Sometimes all it takes is a simple act of kindness to completely turn around someone's day and sometimes even life. I know when I’m having a bad day a smallest act of intentional kindness completely turns my mood around. I hope I can do the same for someone else.

January 2022 ASB Formal Report
Name: Makenzie Loechler
Position: Junior Class President
Date: 9 February 2022
Position Assessment: Even though we’ve only been back to school for one month since our last meeting, there's a good amount to talk about. Starting with Winterfest when we got back. I, myself, was not able to be there for the beginning of the week due to COVID restrictions, so I put April in charge of this event. It ran extremely smoothly and I was very proud of what she and the team was able to accomplish. We have also officially gotten most if not all of our shirts the week we got back, still needing to sell the old ones. As for Prom, we've made huge strides in preparing for Prom. We’ve met at the Rustic Ranch a few times to view the property and have another meeting set up for February 18th. We’ve put together the playlist for the DJ, contacted decorators and photobooth, catering is set, the total cost should be about $50 per head. We’ve also already ordered sashes and crowns for Prom Queen/King, Prom Prince/Princess, and Cutest Couple. In addition, we’ve also picked a date for ticket sales, have two instagrams up and running for the student body, and have announcement forms reminding the student body about important dates. During this time we’ve also picked up the project of Valentines cards for Hospice patients very similar to our military cards. ASB elections have also begun and I’ve been working to make sure I have all my ducks in order for that. Never forget about speeches and elderprojects, we also have that on top of preparing for mock interviews.
Standing Committee: For the balloon arch committee I believe we’ve only made balloon arches since we’ve gotten back. This was for the Winterfest reveal of court. This balloon arch ran quite smoothly despite missing Naomi (we missed you Naomi), we were able to knock a good chunk out in a very short amount of time.
Special Committee: Although I don’t remember any set committees, I know I was on the clean up committee for my class. My job was to go through and take stuff down whenever I had the chance. I also helped to set up decorations every chance I could get between COVID, the doctors, and basketball.
Mentorship Evaluation: Claire has been doing an amazing job thus far. Hardworking, caring, and dedicated to this program. I was extremely happy to see her running for Sophomore Class President and I know she’d do an amazing job if she gets the position. I think we all know Claire has amazing potential and can do amazing things in this program if given the opportunity.
Concerns: My only concern currently is laziness. This is typically the time of year when students decide to check out and just zone out until next year. This can’t happen in leadership because this is about to be one of our most busy times and there is no room for laziness or procrastination. I can already start seeing a few individuals in the class. At the same time the workload is getting increasingly harder and heavier. I feel as if a little break could be greatly efficient this time.
Positive Comment: I love how the class is starting to come together again. We had our little hiccup towards the end of the year last year but I feel that we are recovering greatly. I don’t hear snarky, negative comments floating around the air. I don’t see dirty glances throughout the class. It’s almost like everyone dropped all their issues they had with others for the sake of the class and the sake of working together.
One Change: One change I would like to see is a little more patience[ in class. From both Morty to the rest of the class it feels as if everyone is high strung and a little stressed out currently. I feel some patients and respect can solve this immediately. Something as simple as putting away a phone, limited side conversations, patients towards each other could all be such an easy cure for these unneeded tensions.
My Impact: Between basketball, Almond Blossom, school, Leadership, and work I’ve been going through a lot this month. Along with the passing of a dear friend and personal family issues, this has not been the easiest time for me recently. I hope my impact is to make at least 1 person smile. In a world of darkness and tough times, smiling becomes one of the most precious and important things. I hope I can give this gift to as many people as possible.

February - March 2022 ASB Formal Report
Name: Makenzie Loechler
Position: Junior Class President
Position Assessment: In the months of February and March the Junior class officers have been hard at work with Prom. From creating playlists for the DJ, to contacting decorators and the venue, to making posters and social media posts. Mr. Hern has been very generous and helpful with prom this year. We’re going to be having a backdrop for photos and a photobooth, dinner, dessert, and refreshments. We are currently holding ticket sales this week and have sold almost 120 tickets already. On top of prom, we’ve been assisting the class with the challenge. Personally, I was in charge of the DJ which was a hassle but we got it taken care of. During this time I also attended CASL with Naomi and Ochoa which was an experience in itself. I’m hoping to bring a voter registration table to club rush this year but it’s still in the works. I’ve also been preparing for next year by ordering ASB sweatshirts, polo, journals, and book study. David and I also created the mentorship pairs for next year and have started talking about the BTSD for next year. In addition, we held the 8th grade interviews and picked out 6 Freshmen Reps. for next year's class. Everything is on track for completion and success.
Standing Committee: For the balloon arch committee we have two big events coming up, College Reveal and Tribe Awards and we’ve ordered balloons, both red and white. We will do 1 balloon arch and 2 balloon columns.
Special Committee: Since the challenge is coming up, I was put in charge of taking care of the DJ. I contacted DJ Danny and we got a contract drafted up. I then turned that contract into Davina and Vasche, got the DJ approved and everything has been going smoothly since then.
Mentorship Evaluation: Claire has been doing an amazing job in this program. It’s really interesting to see her grow and develop into the strong leader I know she will be. Her confidence and professionalism grows everyday. She will do an amazing job leading her class this next year and I can’t wait to see where she ends up in this program. She’s been developing her Weebly website and it’s really coming along amazingly.
Concern: I don’t have many concerns for this report. I feel as if this class is finally coming along and working together as one team. There is less tension, less drama, and less negativity overall. My only concern is Morty’s brain injury, she’s already crazy enough and the doctors didn’t seem to catch that in her brain scan.
Positive Comment: I’m really proud of how this class decided to finish off the school year. We have become more of one class and took The Challenge head on. I’m excited to see the development of this program next year as well. Everyone got over their petty problems with each other and I really believe everyone is wanting to finish this year off strong.
One Change: There's two changes I’m hoping to make in the next few months: instilling a due date for PO’s for next year and bringing a voter registration booth to Club Rush. Every class is losing money by ordering items off Amazon too late and it would be much better if we had plenty of time to order and get our items in in enough time. Hopefully, we can get PO’s in 3 weeks before the event takes place. I’m also hoping to bring in a voter registration booth at Club Rush next year. I believe it would be a great addition and could get students more interested in the effect they have on politics and their country for the future.
My Impact: I’ve really been trying to be a good influence for the incoming program. I want to start this new year off with positivity and motivation and go out Senior year with a bang. I want to make this program as successful as I can. To do this, I’ve been focussing on helping others, on helping the student body, and figuring out ways to make this class as effective and fun as I can.

March - May 2022 ASB Formal Report
Name: Makenzie Loechler
Position: Junior Class President
Date: May 13, 2022
Position Assessment:
These past few months have been quite productive with the Junior Class. As we finished up selling rickets we totaled in about 370 tickets which gave our class budget a nice boost. We also actually held Prom and everything went smoothly except one hiccup with the DJ. Other than that the decorations were beautiful, the food was amazing, and everything looked great. Since Prom, the Junior class has been helping in various aspects of the Challenge and working our shifts at the dance. We also have everything set up and ready to go for T-shirt sales which are happening May 16th - May20th. Individually, I’ve been working to organize new events and ideas for next year, including ASB merch, Leadership summer team bonding, and even little surprises for before Core Camp. I’m very excited to see where this new year takes us!
Standing Committee:
The balloon arch committee has been hard at work with the recent College Reveal and Tribe Awards events. We created two balloon arches along with 2 bouquets of balloons for the events. We are running a little low on helium and will need to replace the tank soon but we just restocked on balloons and should be good to go for the next couple of arches.
Special Committee:
The Dance DJ committee for the Challenge this year went very smooth. I contacted the DJ and booked him in plenty of time. Due to there being a shortage of DJ’s it was slightly difficult to find him, but everything worked out in the end. I came early to make sure everything worked out when he was setting up. I also told him the vibe of the dance we wanted and limitations on songs that he could play and I felt he did a really amazing job.
Mentorship Evaluation:
I’ve been really proud of Claire in these past couple months as she has worked so hard to become an amazing leader. Stepping up and taking on the decorations for the dance despite not knowing how this event is supposed to be decorated was amazing. Her drive and determination surprises me everyday as I see her develop into the beautiful young lady and badass leader I know she will be. I’m sad to say goodbye to her as my mentor but I know she is in good hands for next year. She will do amazing things.
Concerns:
My concern for this report is the lack of communication in this program as of recently. Our leaders of the program are lacking in communicating with the rest of the class and in the end it will end up hurting us all. I really wish we could’ve ended this year on a high note but with the lack of communication and the rising attitudes of some, I’m not sure how likely this is to happen. However, walking into next year, there is going to be high communication, great spirits, and a lot of fun. I’m very excited to see this program grow next year.
Positive Comment:
My positive comment goes to the underclassmen this time. They really stepped up when others failed and they took charge without asking questions. They woke up early to get events done because other leaders failed to plan ahead. They stepped out of their comfort zones to make events successful. The future of this program is in good hands if this same attitude continues within these underclassmen. I can’t wait to see what they do next year.
One Change:
Change, change, change. I have SO many changes I want to make and not in a bad way, more of in a “I’m excited for next year and want to make it the best year yet!” kind of changes. From job descriptions, to deadlines, to hours of involvement, I’m ready to hit the ground running and really just make this year amazing. As it is about to be my last year in Leadership, I want to make the most out of this program. This program has so much potential and with a little more structure (and a little less procrastination), this is a very possible idea. Next year is going to be amazing Morty, don’t worry :)!
My Impact:
My impact for these last few months is to really support everyone any chance I get. Even if it means working 8hr shifts by myself, or running to SaveMart 20 minutes before a dance starts, or sitting down for a few hours at a time to plan out next year, I just want to be able to finish this year stress free and happy. I want to make sure people are excited for next year as well. I have high hopes for the future!
