August-September ASB Formal Meeting
Name: Makenzie Loechler
Position: Sophomore Class President
Date: October 1, 2020
Position Assessment: Since the year began, our biggest events were Core Camp, T-shirt sales, Evolve training, and the planning of Fall Fest! Core this year was interesting to say the least. It was difficult to try and listen and stay involved with a computer screen for 3-3 ½ hours. Core is definitely more engaging and useful in person and I feel as if we did not learn as much as we usually do which is expected since online learning is new for everyone. T-shirt sales went very well for our class, between publicizing, organizing shirts, and the drive through, this event was very successful. We sold more than 60 shirts, although a few students haven’t picked up their shirts yet and we have a few larges that need to be handed out. The Evolve training we took with Scott Backovich was extremely helpful and eye opening. I enjoyed that training and learned key aspects of events that I never really considered before. I learned more in the Evolve training about events online than I did at Core online. As for winterfest, the Sophomores have chosen our Fall Fest theme to be breast cancer awareness. We are going head to toe, all out in pink and supporting the breast cancer cause. We have started gathering ideas and decorations for our door and truck decorating. Overall, our events so far have been more successful than predicted and I can’t wait to see what the rest of this year has in store for us!
Professional Development: We have recently begun our job research concerning which career we will be pursuing for the year. After doing large amounts of research it helped me weed out jobs I was previously interested in that I now know, I would not enjoy. This research has prompted me to look further into careers I’m interested in such as location, salary, and how much schooling it will take.
Concerns: I have 1 concern for Fall Fest and it’s that I feel as if we are asking much more than giving. It seems like we're asking for a lot of participation without giving back much. I know it’s hard to find an equal balance in these big school events such as Homecoming and Fall Fest but I’m hoping we can find a way to give back to the students without asking for anything!
Positive Comment: Everyone has worked so hard and put so much effort into this year. From everyone involved in Leadership, to our clubs on campus, and our yearbook staff, every single person is trying their best to make this year fun and memorable in a positive aspect. I appreciate everyone who is trying their hardest. With that being said I want to recognize Kade Nelson for asking and checking in for any work he can help with. Kade could very easily sit on the side and just watch our events be planned but instead, he gets involved even if his job is not directly related to the topic. Since there isn’t much paperwork, he helps our class plan events in other aspects.
Change: One change I would like to see in the Leadership class is more positivity. I know this time is rough and it’s easy to bring others down but we need to be able to support others and provide constructive criticism rather than just negativity. I see this mostly between the classes and believe we just need to be patient and support each other in this difficult and confusing time!
My Impact: My impact for the past couple months has been to support and contribute to any of our clubs or organizations here at RHS. I’ve helped yearbook a few times with their surveys and figuring out peoples’ names. I make sure to let people know I’m always here if they need help.

October-November ASB Formal Meeting
Name: Makenzie Loechler
Position: Sophomore Class President
Date: December 3, 2020
Position Assessment: During the months of October and November the Sophomore officer team and myself completed Fall Fest, Dude Be Nice, T-shirt sales. During Fall Fest we decorated my door and truck in breast cancer awareness and our class color blue, we got more participation than expected from our class due to publicity especially on instagram. I believe we took 3rd which is an improvement from last year. During Dude Be Nice we filmed videos and wrote letters for Perez a while helping organize the event and making sure to get Perez a wide variety of gifts. I wasn’t there for the actual event because I was out of town but it seemed to have gone great from what I saw online. As for t-shirt sales, we sold 2-3 during Fall Fest and around 60 overall. Fall Fest, Dude Be Nice, and T-shirt Sales were all pretty successful events for the Sophomore class and I feel for leadership overall.
Professional Development: For the professional part of my life, we began researching future jobs we would like and what we want out of those jobs/our future. I’ve really tried to look this deeper this year and really begin to narrow my search down to a career I would love to have for the rest of my life. On top of that, we have just started preparing for our speeches by picking our topics and starting to research them. This is one of my favorite assignments because I love giving speeches and having the freedom to research something that interests me.
Concerns/Change: My concern is that the Freshman seem uncomfortable and I feel like some team building would really do our class good. I know we usually get to do teambonds at CORE but that wasn’t able to happen this year. These exercises could really improve connections not only in the class but within the different grades.
Positive Comment: My positive comment this report goes to the Sophomore class officers. They have supported and had my back throughout everything we’ve gone through this year. They're always ready and excited to help with any new project or event. They don’t complain and they always give me all their effort. I am extremely grateful to have such an amazing officer team this year!
My Impact: My impact was reaching out to girls who needed help on the volleyball team and working with them until they felt comfortable with their skills. Nothing feels worse then when your coach is watching you and you don’t know what you’re doing. I like to be that extra little support and encouragement to girls when they’re struggling. Sometimes all people need is a little confidence and reassurance in order to feel comfortable and do their best.
December-March Formal ASB Meeting
Name: Makenzie Loechler
Position: Sophomore Class President
Date: March 18, 2021
Position Assessment: In the months of December to March not much has happened. We had elections in February, Saint Patty’s Day clovers, Senior Athlete Posts, and Homecoming upcoming. Elections went good as usual, a lot of effort was put into this year and it was really exciting to see everyone get really into it. Senior Athlete Posts looked beautiful and a lot of time was spent on the. Saint Patty’s Day clovers were amazing, heartfelt messages were written on each of them and a lot of effort was put into each of them. Homecoming is in the works in full fledged. PO’s have been placed, our dance is created and is being taught, the poster is coming along amazing, our fashion is being planned, paperwork is being completed. Sophomores just need to put the final touches on everything and the Homecoming will be complete. So much effort and time has gone into this event and it’s coming out really great so far. I’m really excited to see where this event ends up. Along with Homecoming, the balloon arch committee is busy this month with making two balloon arches for Homecoming, they’re going to be beautiful.
Professional Development: With the ever approaching date for Mock Interviews, my professional development has been growing stronger. From creating and updating my resume and cover letter to thinking of 10 questions to ask an employer I become more and more prepared everyday. Creating my resume and cover letter are extremely useful and practical as those are two very important documents needed to succeed in life. On top of that, I was able to use and showcase my professional development skills in real life in order to get myself a job. It was extremely helpful and I’m really glad I have the information I do in order to succeed in this area.
Concerns/Change: I’m starting to see some conflicts between members of the classes whether they be officers or commissioners. The Sophomores aren’t having any problems but seeing interactions between the other three classes seems tense and awkward. Maybe from the stress of Homecoming or maybe teachers are adding more work, whatever it is I hope we can figure it out and fix it before it starts to interfere with planning and executing events. If we communicate clearly and stay patient with each other and appreciate others ideas I believe many of these issues would be resolved and there would be no reason to worry.
Positive Comment: The amount of work, time, and energy going into planning this Homecoming is astonishing. I’ve never seen everyone pull their weight so equally and really want to participate. Everyone is putting full effort into planning this event and it really brings hope that this year is going to be much better than last year. I think the ability to actually make events has lit a fire for everyone and really encouraged them to head into this event full force. I’m very proud of everyone in the program at this time.
My Impact: My impact is trying to really involve and communicate with everyone with everything Homecoming. I’m relaying messages, organizing meetings, reaching out to new people, and trying my best to involve my whole class as much as possible this Homecoming. It’s our first real event as a school and I want to make it special for everyone, not just Leadership kids. I’m stepping out of my comfort zone to talk to people I don't know too well to get them involved with the school.
